Why did the download button disappear after I changed PNG to ICO sizes?

Changing a size checkbox clears the previous result in SVGtopix. Keep your PNG selected, choose the sizes you want, and click Create ICO again to restore the download.

The disappearing link does not, by itself, show that your browser blocked a download. In our test, changing a size removed the link before we tried to download anything else.

Get the download back

  1. Open the PNG to ICO converter and choose your PNG.
  2. Select the frame sizes you want to include.
  3. Click Create ICO, wait for the ready message, and click Download ICO.

After changing any size selection, repeat the creation step. The previous preview does not remain available as a download for the revised selection.

What happened in our test

We ran the live converter in headless Chrome 156.0.8078.80 on November 4, 2026. The input was the published wide PNG, measuring 64 × 32 pixels. We saved the actual downloads and read their ICO directory entries.

Action Observed result
Create with all seven sizes selected The download appeared. The saved ICO contained 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 128, and 256px entries.
Uncheck 256px The download link disappeared, its destination was cleared, and the preview contained no frames.
Click Create ICO again The download returned. The saved ICO contained 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, and 128px entries.
Clear every size and click Create ICO The page displayed “Select at least one supported size.” No download appeared.

The status after unchecking 256px was “Choose a PNG, then create your icon.” That wording can look like a request to choose the file again. In this run, we left the existing file selection alone and successfully created the revised ICO.

The first saved file measured 4,671 bytes. The regenerated file measured 2,120 bytes. Those measurements belong to this source and browser run; they do not predict another image's output size.

Check the new file

Use the PNG to ICO page to compare the converter's published file records, and check your own downloaded entries against your current selection. The first and regenerated downloads in our run had different entry lists.

This test covered checkbox changes, regeneration, and an empty selection in one desktop browser. It did not test blocked downloads, interrupted network connections, mobile browsers, or how Windows displays the resulting icon.
